Seminar on Future of Tourism Industry- Trends, Technology, and Opportunities

The College of Tourism and Hospitality Management (CTHM) at IUBAT successfully organized a seminar titled Future of Tourism Industry: Trends, Technology, and Opportunities” on May 04, 2025, at the IUBAT Conference Hall. The event brought together industry experts, academicians, and students to explore the dynamic landscape of tourism and hospitality.

The seminar was graced by the presence of the  Vice Chancellor of IUBAT, Prof. Dr. Abdur Rab, who presided as the Chief Guest. The program commenced with a welcome speech by Dr. Mohammad Badruddoza Talukder, Chair of CTHM, setting the stage for an enriching discussion.

Ms. Saleha Binte SirajJoint Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism & Director (Marketing, Planning & Public Relations), Bangladesh Tourism Board was served as the Distinguished Guest Speaker. She delivered an engaging presentation on the current and future prospects of the tourism industry in Bangladesh, highlighting key areas such as: Emerging trends in tourism and hospitality, Sustainable tourism and climate innovation, Beleisure (Bleisure) travel and public-private sector collaboration, Challenges including infrastructure development, service quality, and safety & security, Opportunities for young entrepreneurs in the tourism sector.

Ms. Siraj also provided valuable career guidance for students and emphasized the importance of education-industry collaboration to meet the evolving demands of the tourism sector. The session concluded with key recommendations for tourism sustainability and strategies to enhance investment in tourism education.

The seminar was moderated by Md. Shafiqul Islam, Assistant Professor, CTHM, and organized jointly by CTHM and ITHMS (IUBAT Tourism and Hospitality Management Society). The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Farzana Al Ferdous, Associate Professor and Coordinator of CTHM.

CTHM continues to foster a vibrant academic environment through such initiatives, equipping students with industry-relevant knowledge and networking opportunities.
