IUBAT Launches Chinese Language Program to Foster Global Competency

International University of Business, Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) proudly announced the inauguration of its new Chinese Language Program today. The launch event, held on Saturday, July 5, 2025, was a collaborative effort between IUBAT's Department of English and Modern Languages (DEML) and the Shanto-Mariam-Honghe Confucius Classroom (SMHHCC).

The auspicious occasion was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including Professor Dr. Abdur Rab, Vice-Chancellor of IUBAT; Professor Selina Nargis, Treasurer and Director of Administration at IUBAT; and Professor Dr. Bijoy Lal Basu, Advisor to DEML.

The program commenced with a warm welcome address from ATM Sirajul Alom, Chair of DEML, who greeted the esteemed guests and the inaugural cohort of students enrolled in the Chinese Language Program. Following this, Professor Dr. Bijoy Lal Basu shared his personal insights and experiences from learning Mandarin, inspiring the audience. Dr. Hasanuzzaman Tushar, Coordinator of the Bachelor of Business Administration program, then provided valuable context by discussing the initiative's background and the vision behind establishing the Chinese language program at IUBAT.

Professor Selina Nargis expressed her strong optimism regarding the students' future accomplishments in the course, extending her best wishes for their success. Concluding the formal remarks, Professor Dr. Abdur Rab shared his perspective on the critical importance of learning Chinese, emphasizing China's significant socio-economic and geopolitical rise in the current global landscape.

The inauguration concluded with a commemorative photo session, marking a new chapter in IUBAT's commitment to enhancing global linguistic and cultural understanding.
