IEEE IUBAT Student Branch Expands with Four New Chapters

The IEEE IUBAT Student Branch inaugurated four new Student Branch Chapters at IUBAT on Saturday, July 25, 2026, marking a significant milestone in the university's commitment to fostering research, innovation, leadership, and professional development among students. The initiative reflects IUBAT's continued efforts to create a dynamic learning environment where students can strengthen their technical expertise, expand professional networks, and actively engage with the global IEEE community through collaborative research, knowledge-sharing, and technological innovation.

The newly inaugurated chapters include the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) Student Branch Chapter, IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) Student Branch Chapter, IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) Student Branch Chapter, and the IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group. These additions will provide students with greater opportunities to engage in technical activities, collaborate with professionals, and participate in the global IEEE network.

The inauguration ceremony featured insightful presentations by distinguished IEEE leaders, including Prof. Dr. Celia Shahnaz, Chair of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) Bangladesh Chapter and Advisor of the IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group, IEEE Bangladesh Section; Prof. Dr. Shaikh Anwarul Fattah, Chair of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) Bangladesh Chapter; and Prof. Dr. M. Firoz Mridha, Chair of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) Bangladesh Chapter. Their inspiring discussions encouraged students to pursue excellence in research, innovation, and professional growth through active participation in IEEE activities.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Professor Selina Nargis, Treasurer & Director Administration, IUBAT; Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mahmudur Rahman, Pro Vice-Chancellor, IUBAT; Dr. Utpal Kanti Das, Dean, School of Computer Science and Engineering; along with faculty members, students, and members of the IEEE IUBAT Student Branch.

The inauguration of these four chapters marks a new chapter for the IEEE IUBAT Student Branch, creating a stronger platform for students to develop leadership skills, foster technological innovation, and build meaningful connections within the global engineering and scientific community.
