The International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) successfully organized a Special Discussion Session titled “The Role of College Teachers in Guiding Students towards Higher Education at University Level” on 17 January 2026 at the IUBAT Open Auditorium. The event brought together more than 380 college teachers representing over 50 colleges from the Gazipur and Tongi areas, reflecting strong regional engagement and academic collaboration.
The program began with the National Anthem, followed by a one-minute silence to pay solemn tribute to the late Professor Dr. M. Alimullah Miyan, Founder of IUBAT, and Professor Dr. M. Mahbuda Khanam. A documentary presentation titled “Six Seasons of IUBAT” was then screened, highlighting the university’s journey, achievements, and contributions to higher education in Bangladesh.
The session was enriched by distinguished addresses from Brigadier General Dr. Md. Zahid Hossain (Retd.), Controller of Examinations, Professor Dr. Abdur Rab, Vice Chancellor of IUBAT, and Professor Selina Nargis, Treasurer and Director of Administration. In their speeches, the speakers emphasized the critical role of college teachers in shaping students’ academic aspirations, preparing them for university-level challenges, and guiding them toward informed higher education choices.
A key highlight of the program was the interactive discussion segment, where participating college teachers actively shared their insights, experiences, and practical strategies for effectively mentoring students during the transition from college to university. Their contributions underscored the importance of academic guidance, motivation, and career-oriented counseling at the pre-university stage.
The program concluded with closing remarks and a vote of thanks delivered by Md. Alamin Sikder Shihab, Director of the Branding and Public Relations Office of IUBAT, who expressed sincere appreciation to all participants for their valuable engagement and support.
Overall, the event served as a meaningful platform for constructive academic dialogue, reaffirming the vital role of college teachers in facilitating students’ smooth and successful journey toward higher education and strengthening collaboration between colleges and universities.
