Seminar, Farm Machinery Fair and Talent Hunt at IUBAT

A seminar and exhibition on BARI-developed Farm Machinery and a Poster Presentation for Talent Hunt were jointly organized by Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) and the College of Agricultural Sciences, IUBAT on 24 June 2025. The program aimed to acquaint the students with the latest developments in farm machinery and the dissemination of those technologies for enhancing agricultural productivity in Bangladesh.

The ‘Farm Machineries Fair’ was inaugurated by the Chief Guest of the program, the honorable Vice-Chancellor of IUBAT, Professor Dr. Abdur Rab, in the presence of  Dr. Md. Nurul Amin, CSO, FMPE, BARI. Prof. Dr. A.J.M Sirajul Karim, Chair, Department of Agriculture,  Dr. Mohammad Rezaul Karim, Associate Professor and Coordinator, Department of Agriculture,  Faculty members and students of the College of Agricultural Sciences, IUBAT. Later, the Committee for the Talent Hunt on Poster Presentation on Farm Mechanization evaluated the posters presented by the students on different ideas. The Chief Guest handed over the prizes to the top three contestants.

Dr. Mohammad Rezaul Karim, stated the importance of modern mechanization in the agriculture sector in his welcome speech and also thanked the organizers for organizing the worthy program.

Dr. Md. Arshadul Haque, Senior Scientific Officer (SSO) of FMPE Division, BARI, presented the keynote speech on the development and dissemination of farm machinery by BARI. He emphasized on BARI’s role in innovating and promoting mechanization in agriculture. Prof. Dr. Salim Ullah Eusufzai, the course teacher on Farm Power Machinery, delivered a speech focusing on the significance and advancements in farm machinery. As the Guest of Honor, Dr. Ataur Rahman, Director, Training & Communication Wing, BARI, spoke on capacity building and training programs to encourage adoption of farm machinery.

The Honorable Vice-Chancellor of IUBAT, highlighted the importance of farm mechanization for sustainable agricultural growth and urged the Agriculture students to become “Agripreneurs” for the modernization of agriculture using AI and agri-technology. In his presidential speech, Prof. Dr. A.J.M Sirajul Karim, summarized the seminar’s achievements and encouraged further collaboration with BARI.
