The Department of English and Modern Languages at the International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) organized a seminar titled “The Primacy of Writing in English Studies: Preparing and Publishing Journal Articles” on 11 August 2026. The seminar brought together faculty members and participants for an academic session focused on scholarly writing, research manuscript preparation, and the process of publishing in reputable academic journals.
The seminar featured Md Mahmudul Hasan, PhD, Professor in the Department of English Language and Literature at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and Editor-in-Chief of Asiatic, a journal indexed in Web of Science and Scopus. Drawing on his academic and editorial experience, Professor Hasan shared practical perspectives on developing research manuscripts, strengthening academic writing, and preparing scholarly work for publication.
During the session, the speaker discussed key aspects of academic writing and journal article preparation, highlighting the importance of clarity, structure, originality, and scholarly contribution in research manuscripts. The discussion also addressed the academic publication process and offered insights into navigating journal submission and publication requirements.
Although the seminar was primarily organized within the context of English Studies, the discussion extended to broader research and publication practices relevant to scholars and researchers across disciplines. The session provided participants with useful guidance on improving their academic writing and developing research work suitable for publication in recognized scholarly journals.
Prof. Dr. Md. Momtazur Rahman, Registrar, IUBAT, and Abu Taher Mohammad Sirajul Alom, Chairman, Department of English and Modern Languages, joined the session alongside faculty members and participants. Their presence, along with the active participation of the attendees, contributed to an engaging academic exchange on strengthening research and scholarly publication practices.
The seminar served as a valuable platform for enhancing participants’ understanding of academic writing and journal publication while encouraging a stronger culture of research and scholarly communication at IUBAT.
