International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT), the first private university in Bangladesh, has stepped into its 35th year of establishment. The 35th Founding Anniversary of the university was formally inaugurated on Friday morning, 16 January, at its permanent campus in Uttara amid great enthusiasm and festivity. The inauguration was declared by the Vice Chancellor of IUBAT, Professor Dr. AbdurRab.
The celebration began in the morning with the hoisting of the National Flag and the IUBAT flag, accompanied by the national anthem. Following this, floral wreaths were placed at the grave of the university’s founder, Professor Dr. M. AlimullahMiyan. Special prayers and munajat were offered seeking eternal peace and forgiveness for his departed soul. As part of the anniversary observance, balloons were released and white doves, symbolizing peace, were set free.
At 10:00 am, a cake-cutting ceremony was held with the participation of teachers and students from all faculties and departments. Present on the occasion were Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. AbdurRab, Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Mahmudur Rahman, Treasurer Professor Selina Nargis, Registrar Professor Dr. Md. Momtazur Rahman, Controller of Examinations Brigadier General Dr. Md. Zahid Hossain (Retd.), Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Professor Dr. Md. Monirul Islam, Dean of the Faculty of Business Professor MozaffarAlam Chowdhury, along with chairpersons, coordinators, faculty members, and officials from various departments.
In addition, a special discussion session was organized on the occasion of the 35th Founding Anniversary with the participation of teachers, students, and alumni. The session focused on IUBAT’s achievements in education and research, as well as its future development plans.
It is noteworthy that IUBAT was established in 1991 and is recognized as one of the leading private universities in Bangladesh. The university was founded by Professor Dr. M. AlimullahMiyan, former Director of the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka, and a renowned educationist. Over the years, IUBAT has earned a distinguished position among private universities in the country through its commitment to quality education and research excellence.
