International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT), the country’s first Non-Government University, has stepped into its 35th year of academic excellence. Today, the 16th January 2026, the university will celebrate its 35thanniversary, marking more than three decades of pioneering contributions to private higher education in Bangladesh. Over the years, IUBAT has evolved not only as an educational institution but also as a role model for quality, accessibility, and innovation in higher education.
IUBAT was established in 1991 by renowned educationist Professor Dr. M. AlimullahMiyan, former Director of the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka. The vision is to make international-standard higher education accessible to students from all segments of society and to produce one professional graduate from each village of Bangladesh for overall national development. The university has made remarkable progress in realizing the vision.
On the occasion of the 35thanniversary, IUBAT BoT Chairman Zuber Alim and Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Abdur Rab have extended their heartfelt greetings and congratulations to students, faculty members, officers, staff, alumni, and well-wishers.
Located on a lush green campus spanning nearly 6.5 acres in Uttara, Dhaka, IUBAT stands as a example of excellence among private universities in Bangladesh. The well-planned campus, open spaces, and modern infrastructure provide an ideal, student-friendly learning environment that promotes academic excellence as well as personal growth.
As the first private university in the country, IUBAT introduced BBA and Hotel Management programs and pioneered private-sector education in Agriculture, Nursing, and Mechanical Engineering. These initiatives opened new horizons in higher education and played a significant role in producing competent professionals to meet the nation’s growing demands across diverse sectors.
Currently, IUBAT operates six faculties encompassing 14 academic departments, with thousands of students from home and abroad pursuing their education. With its modern curricula, experienced faculty members, and strong emphasis on practical and industry-oriented learning, IUBAT graduates have been successfully serving in national and international organizations for more than three decades, earning recognition and enhancing the country’s global reputation.
In the fields of research and global rankings, IUBAT has maintained a strong and consistent position. In 2025, the university ranked fifth among private universities in Bangladesh in terms of research output. Its presence in internationally recognized rankings such as QS and Times Higher Education (THE) further reinforces IUBAT’s standing and contribution to the higher education sector of Bangladesh.
IUBAT has also demonstrated a strong commitment to social responsibility. To ensure that meritorious students are not deprived of higher education due to financial constraints, the university offers scholarships of up to 100 percent based on SSC, HSC, or equivalent examination results. In addition, free transportation facilities are provided to students, making education more accessible and affordable.
